Hockey

So I played some hockey last weekend. It was a lot of fun, but I was ill-equipped and and unable to hang with the hosers up here in Canada.

In the video I'm the guy wearing the blue long-sleeve shirt that skates significantly slower than everyone else on the ice. In my defense: (1) The skates were dull and the ice was hard - not a good combo especially considering it was only the 5th time in my life I ever skated on ice; (2) The only gear I had was a helmet and gloves - everyone else was just about in full gear. I was not prepared to fall on the ice or get hit by pucks or anything. So naturally I didn't try to be too aggressive. (3) I was the only American on the ice, and everyone else was Canadian. Do you know how Canadians feel about hockey? Well, you think you might, but I guarantee you don't unless you've ever spent a significant amount of time here. Canadians LOVE hockey, and I thought I did well considering.

All in all, I had a blast. Hopefully we're going to play some more before I leave, and next time I'll be able to borrow some gear so I can get more into the action.

I did score a goal, but the video of it won't play. Oh well... maybe next time.
